2024 Mardi Gras Fundraiser

Sponsorship Opportunity

We invite you to consider sponsoring Kishwaukee Kiwanis’ First Annual Mardi Gras Gala fundraiser.  We are seeking sponsorships in terms of attendance (Bourbon Street), monetary donations (Royal Street) or items to be used as prizes (Café du Monde Riverwalk).

The funds raised at this event will be used for two major purposes: construction of bicycle paths and support for local charities.

Construction of Bicycle Paths

Since the 1970s, Kishwaukee Kiwanis have donated over $300,00 to area bike paths.  Paths include Prairie Park, Bethany, the NIU lagoon underpass, and most recently, Fairview.  In 2018, a bicyclist was struck by an automobile and killed when he was on his way to work on Fairview Drive in DeKalb.  Kishwaukee Kiwanis provided $19,500 in matching funds for a federal grant to construct a bike path along Fairview where this accident occurred.  More paths are planned.

Support for Local Charities

We also will use funds from our Mardi Gras Gala fundraiser in our on-going support several local charitable organizations, with a special focus on those that serve children.  In the past three years, we have supported the following organizations:

Safe Passage      Hope Haven

Youth Services Bureau                                Family Service Agency

4H Foundation                                               Salvation Army
