Thank you to all those that supported and visited our Kishwaukee Kiwanis Corn Fest Booth!!  The sweet corn, brats, and hot dogs were the best at the Fest!  Thank you to Gary, Lisa, and the whole Corn Fest Committee for a super organized and smooth event.   We had some tremendous participation and fun within the club.

(Support & Gear) support of Bicycling with Beanzie on July 18, 2010.  The Rescue Riders are trained medics that volunteered their time keeping folks safe.  ”The Rescue Riders program was established to exemplify how motorcyclists as individuals, and collectively, make our great nation a safer and more compassionate place to live.   The Rescue Riders are a Non-Profit 501c3 corporation which was started in 2005. Currently they have over 2000 volunteers located in 26 states and thanks to the dedication of our volunteer ranks continue to grow.”

Kishwaukee Kiwanis thanks Gigi Beaird and the Wild Roses Motorcycle Club (Chapter of the Women on Wheels) http://www.nciwildroses.com/ for their support of Bicycling with Beanzie on July 18, 2010.   The Wild Roses along with the Rescue Riders volunteered their time driving S.A.G. (Support and Gear).   These motorcycle clubs offered hydration and visibility during this tremendously hot day.  The Wild Roses formally registered as a Women on Wheels® official chapter in August of 2008.  They are currently 20 members strong and welcome others into their chapter. Community supports Biking with BeanzieTo the Editor:

The Kishwaukee Kiwanis Club of DeKalb thanks our community for a successful 12th annual Biking with Beanzie on July 18.

Riders chose from 23-, 43-, 66- and 101-mile routes. More than 500 bicycle riders from throughout the Midwest participated in the ride with no injuries. It was extremely hot, but, thankfully, there was no rain.

Kiwanis is a global organization of member-volunteers working to change the world, one child and one community at a time. Profits from the Beanzie ride go to support the DeKalb County Bike Pathway and other worthy projects throughout DeKalb County, helping to make our community a better place to live.

Kishwaukee Kiwanis club meets weekly on Wednesday from 11:45 a.m.-1 p.m. for lunch and a community speaker at Hopkins Park, 1403 Sycamore Road, in DeKalb. Board Meeting: 1st Wednesday following our regular meeting.   There will be no Program on the first Wednesday of each month.
Defining Statement:  Kiwanis is a global organization of volunteers dedicated to changing the world one child and one community at a time.
Motto: Serving the Children of the World.
Purpose: To improve the quality of life for children and families worldwide.
Mission: As a thriving organization of men, women, and youth, we are dedicated to serving the children of the world and improving the quality of life worldwide.  Being committed to this mission calls each of us to live by the Objects of Kiwanis.
Vision: We will be the world’s premier organization engaging adult and youth volunteers to improve the quality of life worldwide with a goal of 1 million members by 2015, the 100th birthday of Kiwanis.

Our club meets weekly with programs every week except the first Wednesday of each month.   We have three main fund raisers each year: Peanut Day (4th Friday in September), Corn Fest (August, the weekend before NIU resumes), and Biking with Beanzie (3rd Sunday in July).
