Biking with Beanzie

Biking with Beanzie        Notice.  Beanzie will have prepackaged snacks and ice-cold water. Bring your own water bottles. We will also have individual packs of Gatorade powder that riders can add to their water if they want to.
To ensure a safe and enjoyable ride experience, we will follow appropriate state and local COVID-19 guidelines, and we expect all ride participants to do so as well.

Registration Information

202X       to register online through active.com. There is a surcharge for online registration.  

202X       for a printable mail-in registration form.

T-shirts may be purchased for $12 at the registration table, sizes as available. 

Adults 

$35.00 with pre-registration up to July Xth. 

$48.00 July Xth and day of event 

Youth Riders 

Registered youth age 12 and under ride FREE with a paid adult rider.

Use the mail-in registration form. 

Walkup/”Day of” Registrations are accepted.  Cash, check, credit (via Square) or mobile phone access to Active.com.

Race Day Start Times

6:30 to 9:30 a.m. – Check in and register at the middle school.  Purchase tee-shirts ($12 each) as sizes are available.  

ALL RIDERS MUST BE OUT BY 10:00 AM.  All riders must be finished with the ride and the Huntley Middle School facilities by 3:30 p.m.

The Beanzie Central Phone number will be posted prior to the ride. Calls and emails will be answered as promptly as we can.   On actual Beanzie Sunday, please do not leave voice messages or emails.  Call the Beanzie Central number until we answer.  There may be other riders calling at the same time.   You may need to call back in a few minutes.

2024 Cue Sheets can be found when you follow the links to the route maps below. When you get to the website, click on “more” in the upper left hand corner and select “print cue sheet”.

These routes can be found on FVBSC site you can navigate even if you don’t have a paid RWGPS account .

General Ride Information

Who You Are Supporting: Biking with Beanzie (BWB) is a recreational ride presented by Kiwanis Club of Kishwaukee-DeKalb (IL) and sponsored by numerous donors.  As a Beanzie rider, you will be investing in our community. BWB is a self-paced event that promotes fitness and family fun, not a race.
Profits from this ride go to support the Kishwaukee Bike Pathway projects and numerous charitable organizations in DeKalb County.  BWB partners with the Live Healthy DeKalb County initiative to help promote a healthier lifestyle within DeKalb County. 

Terrain: Primarily of flat rural roads with some rolling terrain. All roads are well-paved, lightly traveled and posted with signs containing ride information and bits of Beanzie humor. 

Start & End Location: Sports & Rec Center 1765 S. 4th St. DeKalb, IL  60115 

  • Choose from multiple routes (details available later). Riders may begin as early as 6:30 a.m., but must return to the middle school by 3:30 p.m. 
  • Route Maps and Cue Sheets will be available on this webpage, two days prior to the event.  
  • If there is questionable weather, please check with Registration/Check-in by 6:15 a.m. for updates before you leave the middle school.   You can also call the Beanzie Central phone number listed on the Cue Sheets.   Safety first.       

Food & Water: All ride routes are provided with rest stops and water.  Hydration options and individually-packed snacks will be provided at rest stops.

Friendly SAG  drivers are knowledgeable about the route and bicycling.   

Showers

Showers will be available. Please bring your own towels and toiletries.

Safety and Support    

All riders are strongly encouraged to wear helmets and follow the rules of the road. Please ride single-file to the right because there will be light traffic on the roads.  SAG and rest stops will be provided until 3:30.
